Ultimate Xmas Tour: Review

Date: 14/12/2019

Location: Asylum, Birmingham

This was the last date of the exclusive CBA Gigz show hosted by ex boy band member Mikey Cobban, which featured a variety of different acts including VLTGE, Dare You Not To, Just The Brave, United Vibe and Nathan Gurd.

The show began with Mikey hyping up the crowd ready for the acts with his charming charisma and his questionable christmas jokes. Mikey continued to keep the crowd entertained in between each act by inviting a talented fan on stage to sing and even hosting a christmas quiz while keeping the energy in the room at a high with his bubbly personality.

The first act to take the stage was recently formed three piece boy band VLTGE; made up of Paddy, Mykee-d and CJ. The band sang a mix of original songs and covers. They kept with the xmas theme of the tour with their rendition of ‘Mistletoe’ by Justin Bieber which the enthusiastic crowd sang back to them.

The next act was boy band Dare You Not To who were without a doubt the best act of the show. The five piece consisted of members Brodie, Max, Chase, Dushane and Huw. Their whole image was fresh, original and edgy not to mention their vocals were astounding. Their set started with a cover of ‘Old Town Road’ and the rest were catchy and memorable originals. They interacted with their receptive audience and weren’t short of screams from the second they came on to the second they left the stage.

Just the Brave, a young five piece boy band, were next and they allured the audience with their originals songs as well as a christmas song to accommodate the name of the tour. Their look was very well put together with their yellow themed outfits and their songs enticed an engaging atmosphere.

Penultimately was X Factor boy band United Vibe who received an array of screams as their set commenced. They depicted the classic boy band look with their synchronised dance moves and melodic newly released original christmas song ‘Mrs Claus’. They also made an effort to engage with the audience from their first song which was an energetic cover of ‘Just Got Paid’ by R&B singer Ella Eyre.

Ending the show was Nathan Gurd who it was clear already had quite the fan base as he came on stage to many enthusiastic screams from fans. Nathan energetically danced his way through his set that consisted of mostly covers. He was a vibrant and entertaining end to the enthralling Ultimate Xmas Tour.
